When I first started teaching I was not looking forward to having to teach Caesar. I thought the kids would find it dry and boring. However, I have been completely suprised at how "in to it" they get. I suppose the dramatic flair of vengence, back stabbing, lying, deceit, etc, and how everyone is eventually held accountable is an attention getting story line!
It is an interesting story. Not completely historically accurate, but entertaining when you break it down. Ghosts, premonitions, brotherly love and deceit, etc. It is more entertaining than you would think. We will give a shot.
I agree with you. The themes found in Caesar can very much be related to the ins and outs of a high school student. The ever evolving nature of friendships, choices, and the accountability of actions.
I vote for Julius Caesar. It is one of my favorites!!

ReplyDeleteWell I'm thinking Caesar as well,
ReplyDeletebecause we studied it in world history class, and I wasn't getting all that much into it.
but knowing the whole story,
I might become more interested in the topic.

ReplyDeleteJulius Ceasar would be my choice also the kids need to learn that there is something other than WV studies as they were taught that in middle school

ReplyDeleteJulius Caesar. I looked them both up on Google and Julius caught my attention more then Antigone did.
ReplyDeleteJulius Caesar. Because of the dramatic flair of the story - it also can be related to things that happen everyday in school, friendships, life etc.
